Mission Statement
The education of our children is an issue of paramount importance. It is our belief that public education is the cornerstone of a democracy.
We fully realize that a community must extend itself to promote, support and sustain public schools. Toward this end, we are dedicated to raising funds and working with teachers and administration to support specific educational programs and projects.
Our efforts are directed to one major fund-raiser per year. We have selected a Spring Auction asour focus activity. It is our goal to fully involve the greater Calistoga community in the opportunity to helpchildren by donating toward an eclectic collection of goods and services for the Auction.
The Annual Spring Auction
Each year dozens of volunteers—parents, teachers, artists, business people—work for months to plan and create a fabulous and exciting auction to raise money for the school kids of Calistoga. Numerous members of the greater community donate wine, food, services, and a cornucopia of items to beauctioned off in the name of education.
Board Philosophy of Volunteerism
Volunteer: 1. a person who offers himself for a service without obligation to do so. 2. a person who performs a service willingly without pay. (Random House College Dictionary)
The philosophy of volunteerism within the Calistoga Education Foundation is that members participate without expectation of tangible rewards. We do not expect free tickets to the Auction, reward dinners, etc.We donate our time and energy to support the mission of the Foundation, and we donate financially as we can without expectation of special reward, compensation or treatment because of our voluntary participation.
